Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Engage Grants
These grants are intended to foster the development of new research partnerships by supporting short-term research and development projects aimed at addressing a company-specific problem. They provide a maximum of $25,000 for activities lasting up to six months. In some cases, additional funds of up to $12,500 through Engage Plus may be obtained to further Engage Grant activities. MITACS has a number of programs designed to build partnerships that support industrial and social innovation in Canada. Their Accelerate program provides funding for four-month internships within an industry environment. The Elevate program provides industry research internships for up to two years.
National Research Council – Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP)

The AIF Program encourages partnerships among private sector firms, universities, colleges and other research institutions to develop and commercialize new or improved products and services.
Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) - Business Development Program
The Business Development Program can help you set up, expand or modernize your business. It can also provide financing to develop your innovative ideas and improve your competitiveness. Focusing on small- and medium-sized enterprises, this program offers repayable assistance. Non-profit organizations providing support to the business community may also qualify.
